Drug pusher arrested

DENPASAR, Bali: Police have arrested a narcotic ringleader along with his accomplices and seized 700 grams of heroin and other illegal drugs.

The ringleader, identified as 45-year old EK, was arrested on Saturday night in a restaurant in the Legian Kaja beach resort which he owns, Antara reported.

EK allegedly tried to bribe his arresting officers with $8,000 and Rp 15 million. The officers rejected and seized the money as evidence to further convict him, Chief Detective at Nusra Police Col. Togar Manatar Sianipar said.

Togar said police had been watching EK, who hails from Malang, East Java, for sometime and were waiting for the right moment to catch him in the act. (emb)
