Drug dealer in Jagakarsa makes up to 200,000 rupiah profit
Jakarta — Police have revealed that the profit earned by perpetrators from illegal sales of controlled medicines at a convenience store in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, reaches approximately 200,000 rupiah per day.
“Based on the statement of the store keeper, WA, these medicines were sold at prices ranging from 5,000 to 40,000 rupiah, generating a daily profit of roughly 200,000 rupiah,” said AKBP Prasetyo Nugroho, head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit at the South Jakarta Metro Police, during a press conference at the South Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Sunday.
Prasetyo stated that according to the store keeper WA, the convenience store was being used as a cover for selling psychotropic substances and Schedule G controlled medicines.
The medicines were sold at varying prices to anyone who came to the shop, ranging from 5,000 to 40,000 rupiah per unit.
“According to the store keepers, these medicines came from A, who is suspected to be the owner of the medicines and also the proprietor of the shop, and is currently being sought or pursued by our officers,” he said.
Meanwhile, another suspect, identified as M, assisted in supplying psychotropic and Schedule G controlled medicines to the shop at the direction of A.
“Suspect M helped supply psychotropic and Schedule G controlled medicines to the shop in accordance with instructions from A,” he stated.
Additionally, M received a payment of 150,000 rupiah each time he delivered the medicines from A to the shop.
Police seized 28,243 pills of controlled medicines from a convenience store in the Jagakarsa area, South Jakarta, after receiving a community report regarding the distribution on Friday (13 March).
Police then conducted an investigation and arrested two suspects identified as the shop keeper WA and M.
For their actions, the suspects were charged under Article 435, alternatively Article 436 paragraphs (1) and (2) of the Health Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 Year 2023, as amended in Attachment I of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 Year 2026 on Criminal Penalties Adjustment, and Article 62 of the Psychotropic Substances Law Number 5 Year 1997, as amended in Attachment I of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 Year 2026 on Criminal Penalties Adjustment.
