Drone Attack Strikes Major Abu Dhabi Oil Field
A drone attack has struck the Shah oil field, a major petroleum production facility in the United Arab Emirates. The attack caused a fire at the site.
According to AFP news agency on Tuesday (17 March 2026), authorities stated that the major oil field in the United Arab Emirates caught fire following a drone attack. Iran has been conducting a sustained campaign of drone and missile strikes across the Gulf region.
Authorities indicated they were still responding to the fire at the Shah oil field. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether there have been any casualties in the incident.
The Shah oil field, located 230 kilometres (143 miles) south of Abu Dhabi, has a production capacity of approximately 70,000 barrels of crude oil per day, according to ADNOC, the UAE state-owned energy giant.
