Police conducted a urine test on HM, a 24-year-old driver of a black car, who drove erratically and against traffic, causing multiple collisions in the Gunung Sahari area of Central Jakarta. The results showed no traces of drugs.

“The urine test came back negative, but four different license plates were found in the car,” said the Head of Traffic at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Komarudin, when contacted by detikcom on Thursday (26/2/2026).

These four license plates include two B plates, one G plate, and one B plate. Police are currently investigating the ownership of these license plates.

“We are still investigating the authenticity of these plates, but it is clear that they were not used for their intended purpose,” he added.

The incident occurred on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (23/2) afternoon. The vehicle was initially spotted by officers driving erratically in the middle of Jakarta’s afternoon traffic.

“The officers asked him to pull over, but he ignored them. The officers then followed him as he turned onto Gunung Sahari IV. He then drove onto Gunung Sahari IV,” he explained.

Instead of slowing down, HM accelerated. The car sped along the road and was eventually pursued by officers.

“On that small road, his high speed was captured on the dashcam of a patrol car. He then turned left towards Bungur, and the most serious incident occurred when he entered Gunung Sahari V, which is a one-way street from Pasar Baru to Bungur. Many vehicles, including motorcycles, were almost hit because he was still driving at high speed,” he said.

At the Pasar Baru intersection, HM entered Jalan Budi Utomo, driving against traffic in the right lane. Officers pursued the driver, who was driving erratically and at high speed.

“The officers stopped at the intersection, turned around in the middle of the road, and then turned left at the intersection, where they were almost hit by our officers. He then turned towards Ancol, but refused to stop,” he said.

From there, HM continued to drive towards Ancol and was pursued by officers. However, not far from there, he encountered traffic and eventually drove against traffic again, hitting several vehicles.

“The officers continued to follow him. When he reached the Ancol area at the Pintu Besi traffic light, which was red, he was stuck in the queue. He then turned around and drove back towards Pasar Baru, on the same lane, without changing lanes. This is what was captured on camera,” he concluded.
