Driver of Toyota Calya, Who Drove Against Traffic, Allegedly Used a Fake ID to Deceive Girlfriend
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Hafiz Mahendra (25), the driver of a Toyota Calya who drove against traffic on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta, is suspected of using a fake ID.
This was discovered after a comparison of Hafiz’s ID data with the information recorded at the Civil Registration and Population Office (Dukcapil).
“The ID used is likely fake, as it does not match the data from Dukcapil,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, to reporters at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Station, Thursday (26/2/2026).
According to Hafiz’s statement, the allegedly fake ID was used to deceive his girlfriend, who was a passenger in the car.
“Based on preliminary information, (the use of the allegedly fake ID) was to prevent his girlfriend from knowing his true identity, as he was embarrassed because he felt he was not good enough,” he added.
According to Roby, Hafiz Mahendra is the real name of the driver of the Toyota Calya. However, the name on the ID used was written with the initials HF.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed that Hafiz did not have a driving license or vehicle registration when he was driving the car and driving against traffic on Wednesday (26/2/2026).
Roby also stated that the woman who was a passenger in the car driven by Hafiz was his girlfriend.
When apprehended by the police, the woman did not have her ID.
“She said she had forgotten it,” Roby said.
Previously, a black Toyota Calya that was driving against traffic and being chased by a crowd on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, went viral on Wednesday.
