Driver in Bogor Fabricates Robbery Report to Cover Up Embezzlement of Hundreds of Milk Cartons

A delivery driver named Dasan has been arrested following the filing of a false robbery report in Mekarsari, Cileungsi, Bogor, West Java. Dasan deliberately claimed to be a victim of armed robbery to conceal the embezzlement of hundreds of cartons of full-cream milk powder.

The incident began when Dasan filed a report of suspected armed robbery with the Criminal Investigation Unit of Cileungsi Police Station on Monday 2 March in the afternoon. He claimed to have been a victim of robbery by four unknown individuals at 03:00 WIB in the Mekarsari area.

In his report, Dasan stated that he was repairing a flat tyre on his vehicle when suddenly four individuals approached him and assaulted him using a wheel brace, causing a wound to his forehead.

“He also claimed that hundreds of cartons of full-cream milk powder that he was carrying were seized by the perpetrators,” said the Cileungsi Police Station Commander, Kompol Edison, speaking to journalists on Tuesday 3 March.

Following Dasan’s report, police conducted an investigation and examined the crime scene. After examining the scene and conducting initial interrogations, officers discovered several irregularities in Dasan’s account.

“The wound he sustained was not consistent with his claim of being struck with a hard object. This raised the suspicions of the investigating officers,” Edison stated.

Police then conducted further examination of Dasan. During this interrogation, Dasan eventually admitted that the robbery report was fabricated.

“He confessed that he had transferred full-cream milk powder cartons to another vehicle for subsequent sale. The act had been planned in advance, whilst the false report was filed to prevent the company from becoming suspicious,” Edison explained.

“From the investigation results, it was found that the embezzled goods totalled approximately 285 cartons of full-cream milk powder, with the estimated total loss reaching Rp50 million,” he added.

According to Edison, Dasan has been brought in and detained at Cileungsi Police Station to undergo further legal proceedings.
