DPRD Inspects Readiness of Jakarta Terminal, Urges Managers to Increase Cleaning Frequency at Kalideres Terminal
A member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Hardiyanto Kenneth, has requested that the managers of Kalideres Terminal increase the frequency of cleaning facilities ahead of the Lebaran 2026 homecoming rush. This request was made following his surprise inspection (sidak) of the terminal on Tuesday (17/3). “We ask the managers of Kalideres Terminal to increase the cleaning frequency and ensure that sanitation staff are on standby 24 hours a day, given the significant increase in passenger numbers,” Kenneth stated in his remarks on Wednesday (18/3). According to him, cleanliness is a crucial factor in supporting the comfort of travellers, especially in public facilities such as toilets and waiting rooms that are used intensively during the homecoming period. Although the terminal’s operations were generally assessed as running quite well, he found that there were still several points that needed more attention in terms of cleanliness. “Main facilities such as the waiting room, ticket counters, departure and arrival areas are available and functioning. But cleanliness at several points still needs to be improved,” said the PDIP politician. In addition to cleanliness, he also highlighted other aspects of comfort, such as the lack of air-cooling facilities in the waiting room. This condition was deemed potentially to reduce passenger comfort, especially amid the hot weather ahead of the holiday. Not only that, Kenneth warned of the potential for passenger build-up in the boarding area and ticket counters. He encouraged the managers to improve the queuing system and add more staff to reduce congestion. From a security perspective, he appreciated the presence of combined personnel consisting of police, the Transportation Agency, and health workers. However, supervision was still requested to be tightened to anticipate ticket scalping practices and criminal acts. “We also request that all bus fleets be ensured to be roadworthy through routine inspections for passenger safety,” he emphasised.
