Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the DPR RI, Lalu Hadrian Irfani, urged the central government to step in to assist regional governments in paying the salaries of part-time PPPK teachers, whose payments are frequently late and for whom salary payment has not yet been made.

According to him, the problems of delays and uncertainty in paying the salaries of part-time PPPK teachers must not be allowed to persist. The state, he said, must come to guarantee the welfare of teachers who have contributed to educating the life of the nation.

‘We urge the central government to help regional governments pay the salaries or honoraria of part-time PPPK teachers. They deserve a decent salary and timely payment,’ Lalu said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, 4 March 2026.

He also called for a special policy from the central government through the Ministry of Basic Education and Middle School (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) of the Republic of Indonesia to resolve this issue.

According to him, the Minister of Basic Education and Middle School (Mendikdasmen) should promptly propose the budgetary requirements for paying the salaries of part-time PPPK teachers through the Additional Budget (ABT) scheme, so that funds can be allocated and disbursed quickly.

‘This is important so that there is budgetary certainty and not to burden regional finances, which are currently constrained,’ he said.

He emphasised that Commission X of the DPR RI will continue to oversee and advocate for the fate of part-time PPPK teachers so that they receive their rights fairly, because teachers’ welfare is a fundamental pillar in improving the quality of national education.

‘Let us not allow those who are at the frontline of education to fail to secure welfare,’ he said. (Ant)
