DPR RI Oversight Team Rates 2026 Hajj Services as Improved, Pilgrims Respond Positively
DPR RI’s Hajj Oversight Team member Bambang Haryo Soekartono said the team received positive feedback on services provided to pilgrims during the peak Hajj rituals in Mina. Several facilities prepared for regular pilgrims were deemed to have improved, providing a sense of safety, especially for elderly and physically disabled pilgrims. Bambang made the statement after inspecting Hajj services alongside Rieke Diah Pitaloka at Maktab 14 in the Jamarat area of Mina, Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, 28 May 2026. ‘Thank God, they said the service is five-star. Even though they paid for regular services, they feel the service is good,’ Bambang said, according to dpr.go.id on Friday, 29 May 2026. Bambang stressed the importance of maintaining service quality to ensure pilgrims’ comfort amid the hot weather and intensive religious activities in Mina. In addition to accommodation facilities, the pilgrims’ food provisions were also rated as satisfactory. Bambang noted that the meals provided met the nutritional needs of the pilgrims. However, he noted feedback from pilgrims requesting more servings of green vegetables in future Hajj arrangements. Regarding health services, Bambang stated that pilgrims felt safer during their rituals as doctors and healthcare workers actively monitored their condition. One of the most beneficial services for elderly pilgrims is the golf cart, which helps them reach the Jamarat stoning site approximately three kilometres from their tent accommodations. ‘The golf carts provide service for the elderly, mothers, and others who are unable to walk to the stoning site,’ Bambang said. He added that this was a key factor in reducing pilgrim fatigue during the most crowded phase of the Hajj rituals. ‘The location of the maktab is excellent. It should be maintained and improved for the future,’ Bambang stressed.
