DPR RI Member Bonnie Triyana Ensures National Education System Bill Provides Protection and Welfare for Teachers
Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) continues to push for the revision of the National Education System Law, or RUU Sisdiknas. Through this regulatory revision, the DPR aims to ensure that future education policies can provide protection while enhancing the welfare of educators.
“All of us, from whatever party, unanimously agree 100 percent that teachers must be prosperous and their wages must be decent. There is no more talk of minimums; it must be decent,” said Member of Commission X of the DPR RI, Bonnie Triyana, during a General Hearing Meeting (RDPU) with the Indonesian Teachers’ Dignity Forum (FMGI), Certified Teachers’ Forum (FGB), and the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) at Nusantara I, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
He stated that teachers’ welfare is the primary foundation for creating a quality teaching and learning process. He also urged improvements in teachers’ welfare as an important part of reforming the national education system.
“We in Commission X are working continuously to revise the National Education System Law. And one of the main focuses of our attention here is teachers’ welfare,” he said.
Improvements in teachers’ welfare, he continued, must go hand in hand with efforts to enhance the quality of teaching. According to him, the quality of national education is greatly determined by teachers’ ability to deliver relevant and high-quality learning to students. “Teachers’ welfare must also be accompanied by teaching achievements. Because we are also facing issues of education quality,” he said.
This legislator from the PDIP Faction also highlighted the ongoing disparities in educational conditions across various regions. Bonnie assessed that several areas still face limitations in educational facilities, from school conditions to access to supporting services such as communication networks.
This reality serves as a reminder that national education reform cannot focus on just one aspect. The revision of the RUU Sisdiknas is also expected to address various fundamental problems faced by the education sector in the regions.
