DPR: People's School Changes Vulnerable Communities' Perception of Education
Experiences meeting students in various regions show a growing sense of pride and self-confidence after they become part of the People’s School. Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal believes that the presence of the People’s School has changed the perception of vulnerable communities towards access to education, especially for children who previously had no hope of receiving decent educational services. “Many students feel it is impossible to attend school with complete facilities, but through this programme, they actually obtain a supportive and sustainable learning environment in the educational process,” he said during a visit to the Integrated People’s School (SRT) 9 Banjarbaru in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Wednesday. According to him, this change in perception is an important indicator that the state has succeeded in delivering policies that truly touch the needs of society at the very bottom directly and sustainably. “Experiences meeting students in various regions show a growing sense of pride and self-confidence after they become part of the People’s School,” he said. Furthermore, he stated that the People’s School is able to create new hopes for underprivileged families to escape limitations through quality and directed education. He also assessed that the success of this programme is evidence that the right educational policies can provide broad and sustainable social impacts in the long term. “With this change, we hope that this programme can continue to be expanded so that more and more people can directly and evenly feel its benefits,” Cucun said.
