Mataram (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives is urging the government to appoint 237,000 part-time government employees with work agreements (PPPK) teachers as ASN. Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the DPR RI, Lalu Hardian Irfani, stated that the proposal to appoint part-time PPPK teachers stems from an agreement by Commission X of the DPR RI, as the salaries of part-time PPPK teachers are far below those of SPPG employees. “So, the fate of part-time PPPK teachers today is uncertain; their salaries are lower than those of SPPG employees and they do not yet have PPPK status,” he said in Mataram on Thursday. He emphasised that Commission X of the DPR RI has requested the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) to create a formula together with the Ministry of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) to appoint both part-time and full-time PPPK teachers as ASN. “We ensure that the central government approves it, but it must be adjusted to the state finances,” he stressed. Lalu Ari emphasised that the plan to appoint SPPG employees as PPPK must go hand in hand with the DPR’s proposal to appoint part-time PPPK teachers as ASN. “That means they should proceed together. For fairness to be implemented through equalisation. Of course, BGN has its own considerations. As the education partner, we also have considerations on why part-time PPPK teachers should be appointed immediately,” he said, accompanied by the Chairman of Commission II of the NTB DPRD, Lalu Pelita Putra. He mentioned that the number of proposed part-time PPPK teachers to be appointed as ASN reaches 237,000 across Indonesia. All of them are under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. “Meanwhile, private madrasah teachers are under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. So there is a fund of Rp75 trillion there. I think it can be prioritised,” Ari stressed. The budget required amounts to Rp58 trillion. For this reason, he requested that the authority to handle part-time PPPK teachers be returned to the central government. “There must be political will from the centre. Currently, education transfer funds to the regions are being cut. So, teacher management must be returned to the centre,” he said. According to him, the DPR is asking the central government to immediately find a solution so that this issue can be resolved in the near future. “So this cannot be allowed to become a prolonged problem, let alone a stage. There must be a solution as soon as possible. We will strive for it; if not possible this year, then next year it should be done,” he said.
