Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of House of Representatives Commission XIII Bias Layar has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged corruption case of coal mining without permits operated by PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT) in Murung Raya, Central Kalimantan.

He believes that the illegal mining, which has been ongoing from 2017 to 2025, has caused substantial losses to the state.

“Moreover, illegal mining companies also bear no responsibility towards the environment. This will certainly harm the communities around the mining site,” Bias stated in a received statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

He assessed that the duration of PT AKT’s illegal mining operations has been excessively long, constituting a crime of plundering natural resources (SDA) that severely damages the state and the livelihood order of indigenous communities around the mine, an environmental crime, and forest encroachment.

Therefore, he hopes that the law enforcement authorities (APH) handling the case can act professionally and transparently to thoroughly investigate every individual involved down to the roots.

In addition, Bias urged the public and local government apparatus in Central Kalimantan to actively report to the APH if there are activities by unlicensed mining companies in their area.

“Cases like this must not happen again,” said the House of Representatives member from the commission overseeing regulatory reform and human rights.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) raided the Harbourmaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan related to the alleged criminal corruption case of deviations in the management of PT AKT mining in Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan.

“True, (the raid) in South Kalimantan (Banjar Regency) and Central Kalimantan (Palangkaraya),” said the Director of Investigation (Dirdik) of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General’s Office, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Syarief explained that the raid took place on Tuesday afternoon (31/3) and was completed on Tuesday night (31/3). During the activity, the prosecutors’ investigators also seized several pieces of evidence, such as various shipping documents related to the suspect company and electronic evidence.

In the case, the Attorney General’s Office has named one suspect with initials ST (Samin Tan), the beneficial owner or manager of PT AKT, which has operated illegally from 2017 to 2025.

PT AKT, a coal mining company based on a coal mining business work agreement (PKP2B), had its permit revoked in 2017. However, the mining company continued to operate illegally or unlawfully until 2025.

Thus, ST through PT AKT and its affiliates, unlawfully allegedly conducted mining and sales using invalid licensing documents and collaborated with state officials.
