Soedeson Tandra, a member of Commission III of the DPR RI from the Golkar Party faction, has assured that the implementation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) will not become a loophole for abuse of power by law enforcement authorities.

Soedeson made this assertion to address public concerns about the potential for authorities to act arbitrarily and selectively when implementing the regulation.

“Society must not equate our institutions with America’s. We must genuinely prevent the existence of rogue law enforcement officials,” said Soedeson at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (7/9/2026).

To prevent abuse of power, Commission III of the DPR is currently formulating strict procedural safeguards within the draft of the Asset Forfeiture Bill.

One absolute requirement being pushed by the DPR is the obligation for authorities to involve the judiciary before taking any seizure or forfeiture action.

“We are regulating this thoroughly through procedure. We have now established that all actions by law enforcement officials must go through court authorisation,” Soedeson emphasised.

With this court authorisation mechanism in place, Soedeson is confident that law enforcement related to asset forfeiture will proceed far more transparently.

“We will open it up to make it transparent, so that authorities cannot arbitrarily do anything to citizens,” he concluded.
