        "content": "<p>Soedeson Tandra, a member of Commission III of the DPR RI from the\nGolkar Party faction, has assured that the implementation of the Asset\nForfeiture Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) will not become a loophole for\nabuse of power by law enforcement authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Soedeson made this assertion to address public concerns about the\npotential for authorities to act arbitrarily and selectively when\nimplementing the regulation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSociety must not equate our institutions with America\u2019s. We must\ngenuinely prevent the existence of rogue law enforcement officials,\u201d\nsaid Soedeson at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on\nMonday (7\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>To prevent abuse of power, Commission III of the DPR is currently\nformulating strict procedural safeguards within the draft of the Asset\nForfeiture Bill.<\/p>\n<p>One absolute requirement being pushed by the DPR is the obligation\nfor authorities to involve the judiciary before taking any seizure or\nforfeiture action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are regulating this thoroughly through procedure. We have now\nestablished that all actions by law enforcement officials must go\nthrough court authorisation,\u201d Soedeson emphasised.<\/p>\n<p>With this court authorisation mechanism in place, Soedeson is\nconfident that law enforcement related to asset forfeiture will proceed\nfar more transparently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will open it up to make it transparent, so that authorities\ncannot arbitrarily do anything to citizens,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
