Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, carried out direct oversight of the implementation of the Self-Assisted Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) programme in Bandung Regency to ensure it runs on target and provides tangible benefits to the community.

He conveyed this after attending the BSPS CPB visit activity and the people’s tender simulation (PTT) in Banyusari Village, Katapang Subdistrict. The event was also attended by the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait and West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, on Monday, 13 April 2026.

In his statement, Cucun noted that overseeing government programmes, especially those part of President Prabowo Subianto’s agenda, is part of his parliamentary duties.

“This is part of my oversight. I want to see how the regents’ performance programmes truly become people-oriented programmes,” he said.

He assessed that the large budget allocated by the government must be felt directly by the public, particularly in meeting basic needs such as decent housing.

“This large budget must truly benefit the people directly and be felt. Earlier, we saw residents receiving renovated houses that have become better,” he stated.

In addition to the housing sector, Cucun also touched on the impact of the West Java Provincial Government’s programmes on the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).

“I am confident that the Governor’s programmes can foster UMKM actors to develop in West Java, especially in Bandung Regency,” he remarked.

On the other hand, he revealed that there are still challenges in implementing the BSPS programme, particularly related to land limitations.

According to him, some areas in his constituency are located in state-owned enterprise (BUMN) plantation zones that cannot be developed through the BSPS scheme.

He explained that based on data from the Bandung Regency Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land Office (Disperkimtan), there are around 24,000 housing units that have not yet been reached by the BSPS programme, and 17,000 housing units on BUMN land that cannot receive the BSPS programme.

Cucun added that areas such as Kertasari, Ciwidey, and Pangalengan serve as examples of locations with such issues, as many residents’ houses stand on land owned by BUMN entities like PT Perkebunan Nusantara or Perhutani.

This situation is deemed to require immediate solutions so that the community can still obtain their rights to decent housing.
