Indonesia’s House of Representatives Commission I views the attack on Lebanon as an action that worsens the escalation of conflict in the Middle East region,” said Dave to reporters on Friday (10/4/2026).

According to him, Iran’s move to reclose the Strait of Hormuz following Israel’s attack on Lebanon demonstrates the vulnerability of global energy stability. He assessed that this situation could have widespread impacts.

“Indonesia assesses that any form of aggression will only prolong the suffering of civilians and disrupt vital international trade routes for many countries, including Indonesia,” he stated.

Dave said that the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran should open up space for diplomacy. However, he regretted that peace in the region remains very fragile and easily shaken.

“This situation underscores the need for real commitment from all parties to respect existing agreements, so that the momentum towards stability is not lost just like that,” he explained.

Furthermore, Dave said that the safety of Indonesian citizens (WNI) and TNI personnel in Lebanon must be the top priority. It is known that Indonesia is involved in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission.

“The government, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and TNI, needs to conduct periodic evaluations of the situation, including coordinating with the United Nations and international partners to ensure the security of the troops,” he said.

“If the conflict escalation becomes increasingly dangerous, policies aimed at saving WNI and TNI personnel must be prepared thoroughly, but still accompanied by Indonesia’s commitment to the United Nations peacekeeping mandate in the region,” he added.

Previously, Israel carried out attacks in Lebanon, including in the densely populated central Beirut on Wednesday. This is Israel’s largest attack since the Iran-backed militant group, Hezbollah, joined the war in early March.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the ceasefire with Iran does not cover the Hezbollah group in Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described the latest bombardment of Lebanon on Wednesday as the largest wave of airstrikes on the country. The IDF claimed to have attacked more than 100 Hezbollah command centres and military locations within 10 minutes. The southern suburbs of Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley in the east were targeted.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said at least 182 people were killed and 890 injured.

That number adds to the list of deaths since Israel launched attacks on Lebanon six weeks ago. Previously, 1,700 people had died, including 130 children, in the country, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health.
