Jakarta — The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has praised the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for maintaining stability of the national energy price and supply amid volatility in world oil prices driven by global geopolitical dynamics. The appreciation was voiced by Jamaludin Malik, a member of Commission XII of the DPR from the Golkar Party faction, who said the government’s steps are important to keep the public calm while ensuring economic activity continues ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

‘We in Commission XII of the DPR support the government’s measures through the Ministry of ESDM to maintain the stability of national energy supply and prices,’ Jamaludin Malik said in Jakarta in a press statement on Thursday (5 March 2026). ‘Preventive measures like these are important so the public remains calm amid the evolving global geopolitical dynamics.’

Jamaludin noted that the government’s efforts to ensure national energy availability deserve appreciation, particularly because national fuel stock currently sits at around three weeks’ worth. He said this indicates the national energy supply system remains secure.

Currently, Pertalite is priced at Rp 10,000 per litre, and Biosolar at Rp 6,800 per litre.

Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stressed that the government will not change subsidised fuel prices at least until Eid al-Fitr. ‘For subsidised fuel prices, I assure there will be no increases up to the festive period. Even if oil prices rise due to the Israel–United States–Iran war,’ he said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (4 March 2026).

Minister Bahlil also confirmed that national energy availability remains safe to meet public needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr, including LPG supplies. ‘We have anticipated that our stock of fuels ahead of Eid al-Fitr will, inshallah, all be safe, including with LPG,’ he said. ‘So there is no need for doubt even though there is global dynamics in Iran and Israel.’

Nevertheless, Jamaludin says strengthening national energy resilience must remain a shared focus. Among measures, he suggests increasing capacity of national energy reserves so Indonesia has greater room to anticipate potential global energy supply disruptions. He advocates developing energy storage infrastructure as a strategic move to bolster the national energy reserve system in the medium to long term.

The legislator from Central Java II electoral district also hopes that coordination between the government, state energy-owned enterprises (BUMN), and all stakeholders will be strengthened so the national energy supply system becomes more resilient to global dynamics.
