Deputy Chair of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Abidin Fikri, has commended the swift action taken by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) in disbursing Professional Teacher Allowances (TPG) to hundreds of thousands of Islamic religious teachers across Indonesia ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH.

This move is viewed as a tangible government response to pressure from Commission VIII of the House of Representatives to ensure timely welfare provisions for educators whilst avoiding potential social unrest during the Eid holiday period.

“Timely payment before Eid al-Fitr demonstrates Kemenag’s responsiveness to the aspirations of the House of Representatives and Islamic religious teachers who have long depended on modest allowances,” stated Abidin Fikri in an official statement on Tuesday (17 March).

The PDI Struggle politician explained that the successful disbursement resulted from accelerated data verification through the Simpatika system. Approximately 405,438 Islamic religious teachers benefited directly from this allowance distribution.

According to Abidin, timely payment not only eases the financial burden on teachers during the religious holiday but also strengthens public confidence in the management of state budgets in the religious education sector.

Abidin emphasised that the 2026 TPG was distributed inclusively to teachers of various faiths. Beyond Islamic religious education teachers and Islamic Religious Education (PAI), the allowance also targeted Christian, Catholic, Hindu, and Buddhist religious education teachers.

Based on available data, TPG was distributed to 209,324 Islamic Religious Education teachers, including 91,028 who recently completed Teacher Professional Education (PPG) in 2025. For Christian Religious Education teachers, the allowance was received by 5,606 non-civil service teachers and 9,893 PPG 2025 graduates.

For Catholic Religious Education, there were 12,400 recipients comprising 8,568 civil service teachers and 3,832 non-civil service teachers, also including 5,972 who graduated from the PPG last year.

Whilst appreciating this achievement, Commission VIII of the House of Representatives committed to continued oversight of the budget distribution process at Kemenag.

“Commission VIII will continue to monitor carefully to ensure TPG payment implementation is conducted on schedule in the future, particularly during crucial moments such as before Eid al-Fitr,” concluded Abidin.
