Dozens of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations to Be Installed Soon in Cirebon City
The Cirebon City Government will soon provide 11 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) at several strategic points. “These facilities are currently in the installation stage and are targeted to operate soon once all supporting infrastructure is completed,” stated Acting Head of the Cirebon City Transportation Department, Ujianto, on Thursday (9/4). He explained that the installation of these 11 SPKLU is an effort to accelerate the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Cirebon City and is now in the installation phase. “The provision of SPKLU is carried out through cooperation with third parties. Through this scheme, the installation of SPKLU does not burden the regional budget. In addition, this scheme can also speed up the installation and provision of facilities for electric vehicles in Cirebon City,” he emphasised. For the SPKLU installation locations, Ujianto continued, priority will be given to areas with high mobility and close to public service centres. Such as at the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Department (DPMPTSP) which is integrated with the Public Service Mall (MPP), the DPRD Secretariat environment, and the Cirebon City Hall area. “This makes it easier for the public to access electric vehicle charging services while carrying out administrative activities or other work,” he added. The installed devices include charging machines, cables, and special parking area markers distinguished by blue colour. Ujianto explained that several SPKLU have had their physical devices installed but cannot yet be used fully because they are still awaiting the completion of supporting electrical installations. He added that after operating, the management of the SPKLU will later be handled by the Regional Financial and Revenue Management Agency (BPKPD) together with third parties in accordance with the agreed cooperation agreement. “In that scheme, the private sector utilises regional government assets through a rental mechanism to provide electric vehicle charging services,” he emphasised. Meanwhile, Acting Head of the Cirebon City DPMPTSP, Iing Daiman, revealed that the presence of SPKLU in office environments is a concrete step by the government in responding to the increasing trend of electric vehicle use. “The DPMPTSP location integrated with the MPP is a strategic point because it serves a large number of people every day,” he continued. The presence of SPKLU at that location can provide additional convenience for electric vehicle users. “In the future, people coming to the MPP will not only handle administrative services but can also charge their vehicles at the same time,” Iing emphasised.
