Dozens of Islamic Boarding School Students in Ngawi Allegedly Poisoned by MBG, Receiving Treatment at Hospital
Jakarta - Dozens of students at the Al Hijrah Islamic Boarding School in Karangasri Village, Ngawi, East Java, allegedly suffered mass food poisoning after consuming free nutritious meals (MBG). The victims are currently being treated at several local community health centers and hospitals.
As reported by detikJatim, the poisoning incident began on Friday (13/2) at 1:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. The students had consumed MBG from a Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).
However, the following day at around 3:00 AM, the victims began experiencing symptoms of diarrhea, nausea, and dizziness. Dozens of male and female students were then rushed to several community health centers and hospitals.
The victims are being treated at Padas Community Health Center, Kasreman Community Health Center, Ngawi Purba Community Health Center, and Geneng General Hospital. Some have already been discharged, but many are still hospitalized.
Separately, Padas Police Chief AKP Sugeng Wahyudi confirmed the mass poisoning of the students when asked for comment. The victims are also being treated separately at community health centers and hospitals.
βIt is correct that they are suspected of food poisoning and we are treating them at Padas Community Health Center in Ngawi. But the location is in the city district area,β Sugeng Wahyudi said when contacted by detikJatim on Saturday (14/2).
