Dozens of inmates at Central Lombok juvenile detention facility proposed for Eid remission
Central Lombok (ANTARA) — Dozens of juvenile inmates at the Class II Juvenile Correction Facility (LPKA) in Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara, have been proposed for sentence remission on Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri/2026 CE.
“A total of 45 juvenile inmates have been proposed to receive sentence reduction on Eid this year,” said Ahmad Saepandi, Head of the Registration and Classification Section at Central Lombok LPKA, in Central Lombok on Wednesday.
He stated that of this number, 35 inmates have been proposed to receive a sentence reduction of 15 days, with one of them becoming immediately eligible for release upon receiving the reduction.
“Meanwhile, 10 other inmates have been proposed to receive a sentence reduction of one month,” he said.
He stated that the provision of sentence reduction on Eid al-Fitr 2026 complies with applicable legal provisions established by the government.
The sentence reduction has been regulated under Law No. 22 of 2022 on Corrections, with conditions and procedures referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights No. 3 of 2018.
“All proposals have undergone administrative and substantive verification processes in accordance with applicable provisions,” he said.
He added that the proposal of sentence reduction is a form of state recognition for juvenile inmates who have demonstrated positive behavioural change and actively participated in rehabilitation programmes whilst serving their sentences at Central Lombok LPKA.
“The provision of sentence reduction is a right of juvenile inmates who have met administrative and substantive requirements,” he said.
“This proposal for sentence reduction is expected to serve as motivation for all juvenile inmates to continue behaving well and actively participate in rehabilitation programmes, so that the social reintegration process can proceed optimally,” he said.
The Ramadhan period is expected to serve as motivation for all juvenile inmates to continue improving themselves, strengthening their faith, and preparing themselves to return to society as better and more responsible individuals.
“The proposal has been submitted to the Directorate General of Corrections through the Corrections Database System,” he said.
