REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Downstream processing-based investments have become the main pillar of national investment realisation in early 2026. The value reached Rp147.5 trillion, or nearly a third of the total investment.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani stated that the contribution from downstream processing reached 29.6 percent of the total investment realisation for Q1 2026, amounting to Rp498.8 trillion.

“The contribution from realisations related to downstream processing is quite significant, reaching 29.6 percent in this first quarter,” said Rosan during a press conference on Q1 2026 Investment Realisation and Implementation of KBLI 2025 at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM office in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Rosan noted that the value of downstream processing investments increased compared to the same period last year, which was Rp136.3 trillion. This growth indicates the strengthening of the downstream processing sector within the national investment structure.

The largest contribution came from the minerals sector at Rp98.3 trillion, followed by the plantations and forestry sector at Rp29.8 trillion, oil and natural gas at Rp17.7 trillion, and fisheries and maritime at Rp1.7 trillion.

Rosan stated that the fisheries sector has the potential to grow in the following semester. Several investments in salt, seaweed, and tilapia commodities are said to be starting to proceed.

“We see that fisheries and maritime could increase in the next semester. I have received information that there will be investments in salt, seaweed, and tilapia that are starting to proceed in the next semester,” said Rosan.
