Downstream Industry Investment Reaches Rp144.5 Trillion in Second Quarter

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded that investment realisation in the downstream sector reached Rp144.5 trillion in the second quarter of this year.

"Investment realisation in the downstream sector has proven to be quite significant and has increased year on year," said Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The contribution from downstream investment realisation accounted for 30.2 per cent of total national investment realisation in the second quarter, which stood at Rp477.7 trillion.

The largest contribution came from the mineral sector at Rp96.2 trillion, followed by the plantation and forestry sector at Rp36.3 trillion, oil and gas at Rp10.7 trillion, and fisheries and maritime at Rp1.3 trillion.

The top five locations for downstream investment realisation for both foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic investment (PMDN) in the second quarter were Central Sulawesi, West Java, North Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara and East Java.

The Ministry of Investment also recorded that downstream investment realisation in the first half of this year reached Rp280.8 trillion, or 29.8 per cent of total national investment realisation in the first semester of 2025.

The largest contribution to total downstream investment realisation in the first half came from the mineral sector at Rp193.8 trillion, followed by plantation and forestry at Rp67.4 trillion, oil and gas at Rp17.3 trillion, and fisheries and maritime at Rp2.3 trillion.

The top five locations for downstream investment realisation for both FDI and domestic investment in the first semester were Central Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Java, East Java and West Nusa Tenggara.

President Prabowo Subianto stated that the aspiration for downstream processing of natural resources has been part of Indonesia's grand vision since the era of its first president, Soekarno.

"The aspiration for downstream processing goes back a very long time, even to our first president, Bung Karno. Subsequent presidents continued this vision, including my predecessor, the 7th President Joko Widodo, who concretely initiated the downstream programme in the 21st century," the President said.
