Jakarta (ANTARA) - PSIM Yogyakarta midfielder Donny Warmerdam said he was happy to finally be back playing when his team drew 3-3 against Bali United in the 22nd week of the BRI Super League 2025/2026 at the Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, Monday, after previously being sidelined for a long time due to injury.

In that match, Donny came on as a substitute in the 75th minute, playing his first match for PSIM. It was also the Dutch player’s first match on the green field after his last match in May last year with his former team, De Graafshap.

“Very happy, of course, after a six-month injury. I’m very happy that I’m back on the field now,” said Donny, quoted from PSIM’s official website, Thursday.

He admitted that the hard work during the recovery period was his main motivation to return to the field immediately. He acknowledged that the passion to play football kept him motivated to undergo the recovery sessions, which he felt were quite tedious.

“After all the waiting and all the recovery sessions, I am a football player so I want to play. So it was a very pleasant feeling when I stepped onto the field for the first time,” said the 24-year-old player.

On the same occasion, Donny admitted that his adaptation on the field went quite smoothly, even though he had just returned from a serious injury.

The number 56 player is now shifting his focus to the remaining PSIM matches this season. He hopes that his physical condition can continue to improve gradually in order to help the team’s performance.

“The next three matches before the break, of course, I just want to play more. Let’s see how much I can play in the next three matches,” said Donny.

The next competition break will be used by Donny to restore his fitness level to the maximum. He is ambitious to always be ready whenever the coach gives him the trust to compete.

“After the break, I want to be 100 percent fit to compete. Then it’s up to the coach whether I play or not, but I want to get more playing minutes and win matches,” he said.

Currently, PSIM, which has not won in its last five matches, is in eighth place in the temporary standings of the Super League with 33 points. The team coached by Jean-Paul van Gastel is trying to win the next match when they play an away match against PSBS Biak, Friday (27/2) at 20.30 WIB.
