Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, will begin constructing flats in connection with addressing slums along the railway tracks near Pasar Senen Station.

The minister, often called Ara, revealed that 300 units will be built and are planned to be completed by 15 June 2026.

“We are not talking about the start, we are talking about the completion. Completion on 15 June in Senen and in Kramat, there will be 300 units,” said Ara during a press conference at BP BUMN on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

In Senen, Ara explained that the land ready for flat construction for relocating slums is owned by PT Angkasa Pura, now named Injourney.

“The land in Senen and Kramat belongs to Angkasa Pura,” she continued.

Not only in the Senen and Kramat areas, the completion target for flat construction will also apply to the Tanah Abang area project, where the government received a grant from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI, and it is projected that 500 vertical or flat housing units will be built.

“Earlier, on the instructions of Mr Dony (Head of BP BUMN), very quickly, the President Director of Kereta Api will also be in Tanah Abang, right Mr President Director? Permission, yes, there are 500 units that will also be completed on 15 June 2026. This is correct, right Mr President Director? Like that,” Ara revealed.

However, Ara has not yet disclosed in detail the ownership status of the hundreds of flats to be built, including whether the flats will have rental status or ownership rights.

She only assured that the construction of these flats is to accommodate people who until now still do not have decent housing.

“Indeed, Jakarta very much needs housing for the people very quickly because the backlog is very large, so we will also move very quickly,” she concluded.
