Donation for elderly, poor

JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta chapter of the Persit Kartika
Chandra Kirana, an association of wives of Army members, has
donated Rp 100,000 in cash to each of 100 elderly people and 100
children from poor families.

The donation was handed over to the recipients by the
organization's chairperson, Mrs. Uga Wiranto, at the Tangerang
Military Headquarters on Friday in conjunction with the opening
of a "super cheap" bazaar to highlight the celebration of the
45th anniversary of the Jakarta Military Command.

In addition to the money, the association also donated sets of
writing items, including books, pencils and pens, to the
children.

The association also granted scholarships to a number of
children of soldiers of the lower ranks, including sergeants,
corporals and privates.(bas)
