Jakarta (ANTARA) - Dompet Dhuafa has built a meunasah — a village-level community, worship and religious education centre — in Blang Awe, Meureudu sub-district, Pidie Jaya regency, Aceh, on Wednesday (18 February) to revive the atmosphere of tarawih prayers in the aftermath of natural disasters during Ramadan 1447 H.

Meunasah Al-Hijra was constructed to help the people of Pidie Jaya observe the month of Ramadan with a sense of renewal and hope, given that the floods and landslides that struck the area in late 2025 damaged numerous public facilities, including places of worship.

“The construction of this meunasah is not merely about erecting a building structure; it is a symbol of the restoration of brotherhood and our spirit of mutual cooperation,” said Herdiansah, Deputy Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Foundation, in a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday.

“We have built this house of worship as a sacred place that will mend hearts torn apart by disaster. Let us safeguard this harmony, for this meunasah belongs to us all — from us and for all of us,” he added.

The construction process for Meunasah Al-Hijra, which took considerable time and involved numerous parties, demonstrates a strong commitment to helping communities recover from adversity.

The presence of Meunasah Al-Hijra is also expected to serve as a centre for other positive community activities, such as Quranic recitation sessions, religious education for children, and various community gatherings. This represents a significant step forward in post-disaster recovery efforts, not only in physical terms but also spiritually and socially.

The construction of Meunasah Al-Hijra is one tangible manifestation of the commitment of various parties, including Dompet Dhuafa, to continue accompanying disaster survivors, demonstrating that solidarity and compassion can bring about meaningful change in people’s lives.

In the spirit of Ramadan, the community in Blang Awe has begun their first tarawih prayers at Meunasah Al-Hijra with greater peace of mind.
