DKI Yesterday: Two Entrances to Cawang City Park Closed to Prevent Youth Clashes
Jakarta – Several significant events occurred in Jakarta on Friday (27 February) this year. The East Jakarta City Government permanently closed two access points to Cawang City Park in the Kebon Pala, Makasar area, following suspicions that the park served as a location for same-sex prostitution activities at night.
Additionally, coordination efforts involving police forces, the military, as well as religious and community leaders have been mobilised to prevent youth clashes during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Two Access Points Permanently Closed at Cawang City Park
The East Jakarta City Government has permanently sealed two entry points to Cawang City Park in the Kebon Pala, Makasar area, suspected of being used for same-sex prostitution activities at night. “We are attempting to permanently close two access points today through concrete sealing, in collaboration with the Department of Parks and Urban Forests,” stated Makasar District Head Dimas Prayudi at Cawang City Park on Friday.
Public Transport Free During Eid 2026
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will provide free public transport throughout the capital during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri (Eid 2026), including MRT, LRT, JakLingko, and Transjakarta services. Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo announced: “During Eid, we will provide free transport services throughout Jakarta.”
DKI Provincial Government Distributes Basic Needs Assistance in February 2026
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government distributed basic needs assistance (bansos) for February 2026 to 205,170 beneficiaries on Wednesday (25 February). The Jakarta Social Services Department reported that the recipients included 23,115 holders of the Jakarta Child Card (KAJ), 162,056 holders of the Jakarta Elderly Card (KLJ), and 19,999 holders of the Jakarta Disability Card (KPDJ).
Jakpro Hosts JIS Ramadhan Festival on 28 February–1 March 2026
PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) is presenting the JIS Ramadhan Festival 2026, an annual event held at the Jakarta International Stadium complex in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. The festival serves as an inclusive Ramadhan space for the community. The East Jakarta City Government is partnering with police forces, the military, religious leaders, and community figures to prevent youth clashes during Ramadhan. Deputy Mayor of East Jakarta Kusmanto stated: “The role of community and religious leaders is vital in assisting law enforcement authorities in maintaining order in the region, particularly during the holy month of Ramadhan.”
