Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) will collect taxes on electric vehicles in a reasonable manner, while still providing incentives.

Head of Bapenda DKI Jakarta, Lusiana Herawati, stated that the government has prepared a tariff formulation following the issuance of Minister of Home Affairs Regulation (Permendagri) No. 11 of 2026.

“At that time, we had already tried to formulate the tariffs to be applied,” she said in her statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

According to her, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) once proposed four tiers of incentives: electric vehicles valued up to Rp300 million receive a 75% incentive, vehicles worth Rp300-500 million receive a 65% incentive.

Then, electric vehicles valued Rp500-700 million receive a 50% incentive. Meanwhile, electric vehicles valued above Rp700 million receive a 25% incentive.

“So, the tax paid still considers the ability to pay and the principle of justice,” said Lusiana.

However, this policy must comply with the Ministry of Home Affairs Circular No. 900.1.13.1/3764/SJ, which instructs local governments to provide incentives in the form of tax exemptions for electric vehicles.

Meanwhile, Chairman of DKI Jakarta DPRD Commission C, Dimaz Raditya, stated that the potential regional revenue from electric vehicle taxes in Jakarta is quite substantial.

However, this policy cannot yet be implemented because local governments must follow central government directives. “From the beginning, we have conveyed that the tax potential from electric vehicles in DKI Jakarta is very high,” said Dimaz.

Previously, Dimaz had discussed a gradual scheme for imposing taxes on electric vehicles. This scheme does not apply tariffs uniformly but divides vehicles based on value or price.

According to him, this approach provides room for justice for electric vehicle owners.

Commission C continues to push for the electric vehicle tax policy to be implemented in subsequent years, taking into account regional readiness and central government directives.

According to Dimaz, the trend in electric vehicle sales continues to rise. This situation needs to be balanced with fair fiscal policies. Especially for regions with significant electric vehicle potential, such as Jakarta.
