JAKARTA – Hardiyanto Kenneth, a member of the DKI Jakarta Regional Parliament from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle faction, has reminded the Transportation Department to ensure that bus operators at Kalideres Terminal in West Jakarta pay proper attention to their vehicle fleets.

According to Kenneth, bus fleet inspections are being carried out to ensure that travellers during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday season travel safely and are protected from accident risks.

“We are also requesting that all bus fleets be verified as road-worthy through routine inspections to safeguard passenger safety,” Kenneth stated in comments to Kompas.com on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

During the inspection, he not only reviewed the condition of the bus fleet but also monitored the facilities at Kalideres Terminal. Several aspects received particular attention, including toilet cleanliness, the comfort of waiting areas, and the organisation of queues at ticket counters.

“With the surge in passenger numbers, we are asking the terminal management to increase cleaning frequency and ensure cleaning staff are always on standby,” Kenneth said.

The parliamentarian also highlighted concerns about potential overcrowding in the boarding area and at ticket counters. He encouraged better queue management and the deployment of additional staff to reduce congestion, so that holiday travellers can wait in a safe and comfortable environment.

Joint task force personnel comprising police, the Transportation Department, and health workers have been reported as being on standby at Kalideres Terminal. Nevertheless, Kenneth emphasised that monitoring should be continuously strengthened to prevent ticket scalping practices and potential criminal activity in the terminal area.

From discussions with several holiday travellers, Kenneth received feedback regarding departure schedules, waiting area comfort, and the security of luggage. Travellers expressed hope that information provided would be clearer and more easily accessible, both through digital displays and information officers on site.
