DKI Provincial Government Strives for All 94 Sub-Districts to Have Integrated Child-Friendly Public Spaces
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Child Empowerment, Protection, and Population Control Agency (PPAPP) is striving to ensure that all 94 sub-districts in the capital have Integrated Child-Friendly Public Spaces (RPTRA) so that the entire population can benefit from them. “Out of 267 sub-districts in DKI Jakarta, 173 already have RPTRA, leaving 94 as a challenge for us to accommodate so that RPTRA can be provided, the benefits of which are greatly felt by the community,” said the Head of the Community Empowerment and Family Welfare Division of the DKI Jakarta PPAPP Agency, Hary Sutanto. At an event titled “Family-Friendly Spaces in DKI Jakarta” in Jakarta on Friday, he stated that since 2015 up to the present, there are 324 RPTRA available across all regions of DKI Jakarta. Of that number, 77 RPTRA are in North Jakarta, 68 in East Jakarta, 62 in South Jakarta, 58 in West Jakarta, 50 in Central Jakarta, and 9 in the Thousand Islands. Hary explained that Jakarta, as a dynamic global city, faces challenges in the form of limited open spaces. “Many Jakarta residents and families live in dense settlements with extremely limited housing land. RPTRA serves as one solution where children can play safely and comfortably,” said Hary. According to him, the presence of RPTRA takes on the role of limited home yards in Jakarta. In addition, RPTRA also enables social interaction, education, recreation, and entertainment to grow side by side. To ensure security in these public spaces, he said, CCTV cameras are currently available in RPTRA along with personnel working in shifts. “From a security perspective, RPTRA must be present to facilitate the safety and comfort of community activities. There are also some RPTRA that have complaint post services for consultations on matters that need to be discussed,” Hary revealed.
