The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is ensuring that budget efficiency measures continue to be implemented for energy savings. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasised that the reduction of official trips to the implementation of work from home (WFH) is part of the ongoing savings efforts.

Pramono stated that the instruction from the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) regarding the efficiency of official trips was immediately followed up. He mentioned that every application for official trips requiring the governor’s approval will be examined one by one.

“If it does not provide benefits to Jakarta, I certainly will not permit it. Even now, many BUMD trips are not approved by us,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (2/4/2026).

He emphasised that the policy is not merely following central instructions but is also part of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s strategy to keep regional revenue stable. In the first quarter, DKI’s tax revenue was reported to be slightly above target.

“Jakarta continues to push so that its revenue does not decline. There is extraordinary economic pressure, so creativity is very much needed. Alhamdulillah, first-quarter tax revenue is slightly higher than the target,” he said.

In addition to cutting official trips, the DKI Provincial Government is implementing WFH starting 1 April as part of the efficiency measures. Pramono emphasised that civil servants (ASN) working from home are not allowed to use official vehicles for personal purposes.

“When on WFH, I do not permit anyone to use official vehicles for personal matters. And if they want to use public transport, all DKI ASN get it for free. So there’s no excuse,” he asserted.

He assessed that the WFH policy automatically reduces the burden of operational costs, including fuel consumption for official vehicles. Despite making significant savings, Pramono assured that public services will not be disrupted. He urged his staff to continue working optimally and not to rely on excessive facilities.

“DKI ASN already have relatively many privileges. But if they are too pampered, strict action will certainly be taken,” he added.
