DKI Jakarta Optimises SME Development Through Jakpreneur

The Jakarta Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) is optimising the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through the Jakarta Entrepreneur (Jakpreneur) ecosystem to help them advance and achieve urban economic resilience.

Head of the DKI Jakarta PPKUKM Department, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, stated that through the optimisation of Jakpreneur, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government aims to ensure two major transformations occur for Jakarta’s SMEs, namely digitalisation and global standardisation.

“Jakarta’s SMEs must be able to level up. SME products must have internationally recognised quality, packaging, and management standards,” Ratu said during a podcast themed “Optimising SME Development through the Jakpreneur Ecosystem” monitored in Jakarta on Thursday.

She mentioned that the other desired transformation is self-reliance and urban economic resilience. To that end, she hopes that through measurable mentoring, SMEs will be able to adapt to the dynamic changes in the landscape of a global city economy.

“Through this socialisation, I ask all levels of supervisors, mentors, and SME actors to optimise all facilities available within the Jakpreneur ecosystem,” Ratu said.

According to her, SMEs are the backbone and driver of Jakarta’s economy, necessitating faster, smarter, and more integrated methods in SME development through Jakpreneur.

“Jakpreneur is not just an ordinary programme, but an ecosystem. It is all integrated with digital technology and involves cross-sector collaboration,” Ratu revealed.

As of 17 June 2026, a total of 421,688 Jakpreneur members have joined, out of approximately 1.3 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Jakarta. Of the 421,688 Jakpreneur members, 300,668 have businesses divided into three main sectors: culinary (73.38 percent), fashion (8.94 percent), crafts (3.40 percent), and others (14.28 percent).
