DKI Jakarta Information Commission Urges Food Security Agency to Strengthen Information Governance
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Information Commission (KI) of DKI Jakarta Province is urging the Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Agency (KPKP) of DKI Jakarta to strengthen its information governance in order to bolster accountability and public trust in the institution.
“We are asking the KPKP Agency to continuously improve the quality of its public information services, not merely to meet assessment indicators, but also to strengthen accountability and public trust,” said Harry Ara Hutabarat, Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Information Commission, during a visit to the KPKP Agency in Jakarta on Monday.
He said his office is encouraging stakeholders in the food security, maritime and agriculture sectors to become an active base for socialisation and educational activities in Jakarta, as the sector is highly strategic in the pursuit of Golden Indonesia 2045.
According to him, the visit was a follow-up to the delivery of recommendations from the 2025 Electronic Monitoring and Evaluation (E-Monev) of Public Information Transparency.
He also emphasised the importance of strengthening information service governance, particularly the role of the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID).
“This law is not meant to intimidate; rather, it is meant to protect public bodies. As long as services are provided in accordance with the proper mechanisms, we at the Information Commission will strengthen public bodies,” he said.
He reminded PPIDs not to relax administrative requirements from the outset, particularly regarding the legal standing of applicants.
According to him, not all information requests are made in good faith. If legal standing documentation is incomplete, the request should still be answered and served, but the applicant should be asked to complete the requirements in accordance with regulations.
“Do not relax requirements at the beginning, as this could have implications for subsequent processes,” he said.
“For that reason, public bodies are asked to ensure every process is properly documented,” he added.
He also urged the KPKP Agency to update its Public Information List (DIP) and Excluded Information List (DIK) as a means of strengthening information services in a more systematic and measurable manner.
Meanwhile, Hasudungan A. Sidabalok, Head of the DKI Jakarta KPKP Agency, stated that his office continues to strive to fulfil the mandate of information transparency despite budget constraints and the absence of a dedicated information management unit.
He noted that the dissemination of information on strategic programmes and activities continues to be carried out actively through the agency’s official social media channels, which have a significant number of followers.
