Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is inviting managers of public places, retail outlets, and business operators to jointly create a healthy culture by complying with Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 7 of 2025 on Smoke-Free Zones (KTR). “(They are) strategic partners of the government, and we invite them to collectively create a healthy culture through the implementation of Perda No. 7 of 2025 so that we can become heroes for the lungs of children in DKI Jakarta,” said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control, DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office, Sri Puji Wahyuni, during the KTR regulation socialisation event monitored in Jakarta on Thursday. She explained that the implementation and even enforcement of the KTR regulation is not solely the responsibility of the Health Office or the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP). This is a colossal effort that requires synergy and collaboration from all parties. This is considering that KTR covers 10 locations, namely healthcare service facilities, educational institutions, children’s play areas, places of worship, public transportation, sports facilities, workplaces, public places, integrated public spaces, and certain venues that host crowd permits. “This requires collaboration together, so that the implementation of this Perda can be carried out as best as possible,” said Sri. She also urged all regional apparatus, from mayors and district heads to village heads, to intensify education and supervision at the community level through a humane yet firm approach. The KTR regulation is finally owned by the DKI Provincial Government after more than 15 years of process and struggle. According to Sri, this is a new milestone for DKI Jakarta with a government that wants to protect its citizens. She emphasised that this Perda is not intended to discriminate against smokers or restrict smokers, but rather to collectively regulate and ensure that people can obtain the right to breathe clean air and achieve maximum health.
