The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has designated 103 private educational units as recipients of the free private school programme for the 2026 fiscal year. This policy is outlined in Governor’s Decree Number 312 of 2026 regarding Recipients and Funding Amounts for Private Educational Units.

Jakarta Education Agency Secretary Budiyono stated that all funding for this programme comes from the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD), channelled through the Sub-Directorate of Education in each administrative city.

“All funding is borne by the DKI Jakarta APBD through the Sub-Directorate of Education in each region,” he said when contacted on Monday, 4 May 2026. The total allocation for the free private school programme in 2026 amounts to Rp 253,625,139,600.

According to Budiyono, the funds are used to finance all operational needs of the schools, from teacher salaries and learning activities to the provision of facilities and infrastructure. Under this scheme, schools included in the programme are not permitted to collect any fees from students.

The programme also targets schools in areas that do not yet have public schools as an effort to expand access to education for residents. In addition, students from underprivileged families attending these educational units can still receive assistance through the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) Plus.

Budiyono views the free private school programme as part of the local government’s efforts to guarantee residents’ right to education in accordance with Article 31 paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution, while also improving the welfare of private school teachers and the quality of education.

The implementation of the programme is carried out gradually, taking into account the region’s financial capacity and educational service needs in each area. The local government will continue to conduct evaluations to open opportunities for adding more recipient schools in subsequent years.

The complete list of recipient educational units for the free private school programme can be accessed through the attachment to DKI Jakarta Governor’s Decree Number 312 of 2026 or via the official channels of the DKI Jakarta Education Agency, including uploads on the agency’s official social media.
