DJP Warns of Risks in Using SPT Fillers, Taxpayer Responsibility Remains
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The transition to the Coretax digital tax reporting platform has sparked a new phenomenon among taxpayers: the increasing use of “joki” services for filling out Annual Tax Returns (SPT Tahunan). On one hand, this service is seen as practical for those struggling to adapt to the new system. However, on the other hand, the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) warns of significant risks, ranging from reporting errors to potential misuse of personal data, with responsibility still resting on the taxpayer. Amid this adaptation process, many people find it difficult to understand the mechanisms and opt for joki services as a more practical solution. Responding to this phenomenon, DJP’s Director of Education, Services, and Public Relations, Inge Diana Rismawanti, emphasised that taxpayers are principally allowed to use assistance from third parties in the reporting process, as long as it is done through the proper channels, such as tax consultants. She also reminded that caution remains paramount, especially when it involves granting access to tax accounts to others. Inge acknowledged that in the early stages of Coretax implementation, various challenges are still being felt by taxpayers. However, the system is designed with the primary goal of simplifying the overall tax administration process. According to Inge, the various complaints that have arisen are part of the ongoing evaluation process by DJP to improve service quality. “This becomes material for evaluation that we continue to follow up, both in terms of system refinement and strengthening assistance services to taxpayers,” she said to Kompas.com on Tuesday (14/3/2026). “Regarding the risks of using joki services, we convey that using joki services carries considerable risks, including the potential for personal data misuse, filling errors, and reporting that does not match the actual conditions,” she stated. She emphasised that responsibility for the content of the report remains in the hands of the taxpayer, even if the filling is done by a third party. “It must be understood that responsibility for the SPT content remains attached to the taxpayer, even if the filling is assisted by others. Therefore, caution is very important,” she said.
