The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law has recommended the blocking of 116 website links suspected of copyright infringement based on a report from the Motion Picture Association (MPA). The recommendation resulted from a verification meeting conducted by the Directorate of Law Enforcement, the Directorate of Copyright and Industrial Design of DJKI, together with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) and MPA representatives on Friday, 26 June 2026.

Head of the DJKI Sub-Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Ahmad Rifadi, explained that the recommendation was produced after the team conducted a thorough examination of 124 reported links. Of that number, 116 sites were deemed still active and proven to contain audiovisual content without permission, while eight sites were not recommended for blocking as they were already inaccessible.

“The Verification Team examined each link one by one to ascertain the active status of the site, check whether the site had been entered into the Trust Positif database, and identify the presence of audiovisual content uploaded without permission as the basis for the blocking recommendation,” said Rifadi on Sunday (28/6).

Rifadi added that the verification process was carried out carefully to ensure that every recommendation submitted to Komdigi was based on accountable evidence. This step is also part of accurate law enforcement efforts in accordance with statutory provisions.

During the meeting, the team also discovered a number of sites that were already listed in the Trust Positif database but could still be accessed through some internet service providers (ISPs). Komdigi representatives explained that this condition occurs because the Trust Positif data synchronisation process at each ISP takes place at different speeds.

In addition to containing films and series without permission, a number of the verified sites were also found to display gambling-laden advertisements. Komdigi stated that complainants could submit a separate report regarding gambling or pornographic content so that the access closure process could be carried out more quickly through the applicable mechanism.

Director of Law Enforcement at DJKI, Arie Ardian Rishadi, affirmed that the verification results serve as the basis for DJKI to provide an official recommendation to Komdigi. Inter-agency synergy is considered important to accelerate the handling of copyright infringement in the digital space.

“The recommendation agreed upon by the Verification Team will be officially submitted to the Ministry of Communication and Digital as a follow-up to closing access to sites proven to violate copyright. Close collaboration with Komdigi and stakeholders is an important step in protecting the creative industry and creating a digital ecosystem that respects intellectual property rights,” concluded Arie.
