DJKI Expands Access to Intellectual Property Services through Jakarta MPP
The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law has introduced intellectual property (IP) services at the Jakarta Provincial Public Service Mall (MPP) as an effort to bring services closer to the public. These services focus on providing consultations and assistance for IP applications to help the public better understand the registration process.
This step is taken because many applicants still face rejections due to a lack of understanding of administrative or substantive requirements in IP applications. Through the services at Jakarta MPP, the public can obtain clearer information regarding procedures, document completeness, and appropriate strategies for submitting applications.
DJKI Director General Hermansyah Siregar stated that consultation services are an important part of improving the quality of IP applications. According to him, good understanding from the outset will help the public avoid mistakes that lead to application rejections.
“We see that many applications are rejected because applicants do not yet understand the requirements that must be met. Therefore, the presence of DJKI services at Jakarta MPP is directed at providing consultations and assistance so that the public can submit IP applications accurately and optimally,” said Hermansyah in an online interview on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
Hermansyah added that intellectual property protection is not just about administration but also about preserving the economic value of the public’s works and innovations. With closer assistance, DJKI aims to ensure that every work has a greater chance of legal protection.
“Through closer and more responsive services, we want to encourage the public not to hesitate in registering their intellectual property. IP protection will provide legal certainty while opening up broader commercialisation opportunities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, Tessa Harumdila, explained that the MPP is a strategic point for expanding the reach of integrated public services. The presence of these services also supports government efforts to provide fast, easy, and efficient services.
“The MPP enables the public to obtain various public services in one place, including intellectual property services. With direct consultations, the public can comprehensively understand the application process, thereby minimising the potential for rejections,” said Tessa.
She emphasised that DJKI will continue to strengthen service quality through synergy with local governments and various stakeholders. Evaluations and service developments will also be carried out continuously to make services increasingly adaptive to public needs.
Through the opening of services at Jakarta MPP, DJKI hopes that the public will become more aware of the importance of intellectual property protection and be able to submit applications with better quality. This effort is part of DJKI’s commitment to promoting a competitive innovation and creativity ecosystem in Indonesia.
