DIY Ministry of Law Office Receives 3,757 Intellectual Property Applications up to April
Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) has received a total of 3,757 intellectual property (IP) applications from the public in this province during the period from January to April 2026.
Kanwil Head Agung Rektono Seto stated in Yogyakarta on Wednesday that the applications were dominated by copyright registrations, reaching 2,761 applications, or 73.4 percent of the total intellectual property applications in DIY.
“The achievement of 2,761 copyright applications in the first four months of this year is concrete evidence that the people of DIY, especially creators, are increasingly aware of the importance of registering copyrights,” he said.
He also emphasised the importance of intellectual property protection so that a product or work that has been protected by intellectual property can avoid forms of infringement.
Such forms of infringement, according to him, include plagiarism or idea theft by irresponsible parties.
“Intellectual property can provide legal certainty, add economic value to products, and open up collaboration opportunities. A work that has been registered for copyright or a trademark that has been registered will have valid legal force if a dispute arises in the future,” he said.
“Our message is simple: protect your intellectual property immediately. Because in this creative economy era, ideas and creativity are valuable assets,” he said.
Furthermore, he stated that the Kanwil of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights DIY is ready to assist and process every intellectual property application quickly and transparently.
