βThe settlers attacked the village and set fire to homes and cars, causing significant material damage and creating fear among the residents, especially women and children,β said the official statement from the human rights organisation Al-Bidar.
In addition to the arson, local sources told Anadolu News Agency that the settlers also fired tear gas into some homes. This repressive action resulted in four civilians requiring medical treatment after inhaling the toxic gas.
Currently, around 770,000 Israeli settlers live in hundreds of settlements throughout the occupied West Bank, including 250,000 in East Jerusalem. These groups are reported to carry out daily attacks against Palestinian civilians with the strategic aim of expelling them from their own land.
Statistical data shows that the escalation of violence has continued to increase sharply in recent times. Throughout January, Israeli settlers carried out 468 attacks in the West Bank, including physical assaults, uprooting of trees, burning of fields, preventing farmers from accessing their land, and confiscation of Palestinian property.
