Directorate General of Corrections Removes Head of Security and Two Officers from Blitar Prison Over Alleged Sale of Special Cells to Corruption Detainees
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen Pas) has removed the Head of Security and two officers from Class IIB Blitar Prison in the wake of an alleged case of selling special facility cells to three corruption (Tipikor) detainees.
“The Head of Security and two Blitar Prison officers, based on a decision from the Acting Head of the East Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Kanwil Ditjenpas Jatim), have been relieved of their duties and recalled to the Kanwil Ditjenpas Jatim for further examination,” said Rika Aprianti, Deputy Head of the Cooperation Division at Ditjen Pas, when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026).
“And currently, the process of imposing disciplinary sanctions is underway after gathering related evidence,” she stated.
Rika explained that the Kanwil Ditjenpas Jatim is currently processing a proposal to impose severe disciplinary penalties to the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.
“Because the dignity of the corrections system is very important to maintain its integrity. This has been proven by the firm action against 774 immigration and corrections staff, with 71 of them dismissed,” she said.
Several prison officers are suspected of selling special cells to three corruption detainees for tariffs of up to Rp 100 million per person.
The three Tipikor detainees are former officials in the Blitar Regency Government (Pemkab Blitar) environment.
Currently, the alleged perpetrators are undergoing examination at the East Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) in Surabaya.
The complaint was lodged two weeks ago, on the first day Iswandi took office as Head of Class IIB Blitar Prison, replacing the previous official Romi Novitrion.
According to him, two security officers with initials RJ and W are suspected of offering a special cell named Kamar D1 to the three Tipikor detainees at the end of 2025.
“These two security officers (RJ and W) offered it to the three Tipikor detainees when they first entered here. Offering perhaps for comfort. It’s called Kamar D1,” he said on Tuesday (28/4/2026), quoted from Kompas.com.
“But possibly (the extortion) was with the knowledge of the head of security (ADK),” he added.
