Jakarta — Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives has postponed a working meeting to evaluate the development of the Merah Putih Village/Neighbourhood Cooperative (Kopdes) with the Minister of Cooperatives and Chief Executive Director (CEO) of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara in Jakarta on Wednesday, following the Agrinas director’s absence due to illness.

Commission VI Chair Anggia Ermarini emphasised that the attendance of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara CEO Joao Angelo De Saosa Mota was essential to provide direct explanation regarding the progress of the Merah Putih Kopdes physical development and issues that have emerged in the community, including the procurement of imported pickup trucks.

She assessed that the meeting would not be comprehensive if attended only by Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono.

“This demonstrates a lack of seriousness by the Agrinas director in developing [the programme] and in responding to questions from the community. I agree that we should postpone until the director can attend here,” Anggia said.

“If only the Cooperatives Minister attends, it is insufficient and information will not be balanced. There are many matters and many questions,” she added.

Commission VI of the House of Representatives oversees trade, trade zones, competition oversight, and state-owned enterprises.

Meanwhile, Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono explained that the Ministry of Cooperatives has a direct role in the physical development process of the Merah Putih Kopdes outlet in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Instruction Number 17 of 2025.

He stated that the Ministry of Cooperatives engaged PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, which subsequently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian military (TNI) to execute the physical development of the outlet and its equipment, including vehicle procurement.

Regarding vehicle procurement involving a producer from India, he stated that his ministry was not aware of the specifics.

“We do not know precisely because it is Agrinas Pangan that carries out activities with the producer from India,” he said.

The meeting agenda was originally intended to cover evaluation of the progress of the Merah Putih Kopdes outlet development, operational strategy and post-development financing, as well as programme oversight and governance. However, all discussions have been postponed until a date to be determined later, pending the Agrinas director’s health condition permitting his attendance.
