Director General of Immigration asserts no tolerance for foreigners violating rules
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko has affirmed that there will be no tolerance for foreign nationals committing various immigration violations in Indonesian territory, particularly in Bali Province, with strict sanctions imposed in accordance with prevailing regulations.
This warning was issued by Hendarsam in follow-up to the results of the Dharma Dewata Patrol Task Force operation on Bali Island, which netted 62 foreign nationals detected engaging in various immigration violations.
“I have ordered all units to act decisively without compromise,” Hendarsam stated in his remarks in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He said there are only two options for foreign nationals suspected of immigration violations that disrupt national stability: comply with the rules or leave Indonesia.
On the other hand, Hendarsam welcomes tourists and investors who come with good intentions and bring positive contributions to Indonesian society.
“We will warmly welcome quality foreign tourists and investors, but for those who disregard Indonesian law, there are only two choices: comply with our rules or immediately leave Indonesian territory,” he asserted.
Hendarsam stated that Bali, as Indonesia’s showcase to the world, is a reflection of the nation’s dignity.
The Directorate General of Immigration has established the Dharma Dewata Immigration Patrol Task Force on 15 April 2026 as a concrete step to maintain stability and security in Bali.
“We will not allow foreign elements to disrupt the social or economic order of the local community. This is certainly in line with the immigration spirit for the people that we uphold,” he said.
Director of Supervision and Immigration Enforcement at the Directorate General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman reaffirmed his unit’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement operations in the field.
“We continue to strengthen supervision and enforcement functions to detect potential violations as early as possible,” Yuldi said.
He added that the crackdown on 62 foreign nationals in Bali is concrete evidence that the Directorate of Supervision and Immigration Enforcement of the Directorate General of Immigration provides no leeway for foreign nationals who violate the law and disrupt public order in the country.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, said her office successfully netted 62 foreign nationals suspected of various immigration violations during the implementation of the Dharma Dewata Patrol operation from 15 April to 4 May 2026.
Although it was not specified from which countries the 62 foreign nationals originate, Felucia said the Dharma Dewata Patrol targeted vulnerable points in the working areas of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Denpasar, and Singaraja.
The patrol focus includes monitoring foreign nationals who exceed stay permit limits (overstay), providing false data for visa acquisition, and protection of residence permits for illegal activities such as working without permission, involvement in fictitious investments, as well as other security and public protection disturbances.
“The Dharma Dewata Patrol is our commitment to ensure that only foreigners who provide benefits and respect local values are permitted to stay and settle,” she said.
This supervision is conducted comprehensively to maintain security stability. Field officers have been instructed to act persuasively while prioritising professionalism.
“The Bali Immigration Office fully supports the Directorate General of Immigration’s policy on law enforcement against foreign nationals committing immigration violations,” she emphasised.
Felucia added that the 62 foreign nationals are currently undergoing examination by immigration investigators. Heavy administrative sanctions have been prepared, ranging from detention, deportation, to re-entry bans to Indonesian territory for a certain period.
“We urge the public to remain proactive in reporting any suspicious foreign activities through official complaint channels to maintain security and comfort together in Bali,” Felucia said.
