REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Dudy Purwagandhi emphasised the importance of strengthening health facilities at transport hubs during the Angkutan Lebaran 2026 (Angleb) period. He conveyed this at a coordination meeting on readiness for the Angkutan Lebaran 2026 in Jakarta, on Wednesday 4 March 2026.

According to Dudy, smooth transport services during the peak outbound and return flows are not supported solely by the readiness of infrastructure and facilities, but also by adequate health support, especially at points with the heaviest passenger movement. He hopes the Ministry of Health can increase health facilities, including conducting health checks for drivers such as blood pressure measurements and urine tests to ensure they are free from the influence of harmful substances.

Furthermore, the government is promoting the provision of medical posts at terminals, stations, ports, airports, toll rest areas, and arterial roads. These posts serve as resting places as well as emergency examination services for travellers and drivers who experience health problems during the journey. Dudy also supported the deployment of emergency response teams and motorcycle ambulances so that responses to road traffic accidents or medical emergencies on the mudik route, particularly in areas not easily accessible by four-wheeled vehicles, can be faster.

Attention is also given to the availability of hygienic lactation spaces at strategic locations that do not yet have permanent facilities. This step is deemed important to protect the health of mothers and babies, especially when facing long queues during the peak mudik period.

Based on the Angkutan Lebaran 2026 Movement Potential Survey, several transport hubs are estimated to be the busiest departure points, including Pasar Senen Station, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Pulo Gebang Terminal, Tanjung Priok Port, and Merak Ferry Terminal.

As for destination areas, congestion is expected at Yogyakarta Tugu Station, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tirtonadi Terminal, Tanjung Perak Port, and Bakauheni Ferry Terminal. Anticipating congestion at these points is the main focus of cross-ministerial coordination.

The commitment to strengthen coordination was also stated by Dudy when attending the Cross-Sector Coordination Meeting organised by the Police at STIK Lemdiklat Polri, Monday 2 March 2026. This forum provides a platform for aligning perceptions and reinforcing readiness of all stakeholders so that the complex and high-risk Lebaran Angkutan can run smoothly.

Dudy emphasised that the success of Angkutan Lebaran is determined by the solidity of cross-sector cooperation, from planning to on-site control. The Ministry of Transport will focus on operational transport regulations, provisioning of capacity in facilities and infrastructure, and safety oversight across all modes. Police support is needed in security, traffic management, and traffic engineering, as well as law enforcement to maintain public order and safety in travel.
