JAKARTA — Digital forensics researcher Rismon Sianipar has acknowledged possessing new findings concerning the diploma of Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo.

Sianipar stated that he has continued researching the document whose authenticity has been questioned. The latest findings have been submitted to investigators at the Criminal Investigation Directorate of Jakarta Metro Police.

However, Sianipar declined to elaborate on his findings when pressed further. He only explained that his discoveries relate to three variables in digital image processing: translation, rotation, and lighting.

“My findings could potentially be the opposite of the conclusions I presented in Jokowi’s White Paper,” he said.

Sianipar also emphasised that although “Jokowi’s White Paper” was compiled jointly with Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma, each researcher operated independently within their own research sphere.

“In our research efforts, we are separate and independent. I am not influenced by Mr Roy Suryo, nor am I influenced by Ms Tifa,” he stated.

With these new findings, Sianipar has submitted a request for restorative justice to the investigators.

“Several days ago, RHS [Rismon Sianipar] and his legal representative submitted a request for restorative justice facilitation to the investigators. We are currently working to facilitate the request submitted by the suspect RHS,” said Iman, when contacted separately.

Jakarta Metro Police have designated eight individuals as suspects in the case alleging that Jokowi’s diploma is fraudulent, following an extended investigation.

“Jakarta Metro Police has designated 8 suspects in matters of defamation, slander, hate speech, and electronic data manipulation as reported by Mr Ir. H. Joko Widodo,” said Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, at a press conference at Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Friday (7 November 2025).

In general, the eight suspects face charges under Articles 27A and 28 of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (ITE), as well as Articles 310 and/or 311 of the Criminal Code, with maximum prison sentences of six years.
