Digital Edge has announced the successful closure of USD 665 million in green financing to support the development of the first phase of the 500MW CGK Campus in the GIIC Industrial Area, Bekasi.

This investment is part of a multiphase development plan valued at USD 4.5 billion, positioning CGK as one of Indonesia’s largest hyperscale AI data centre campuses. The financing was completed under Digital Edge’s Green Financing Framework and represents the largest green financing ever secured for a data centre project in Indonesia.

Indonesia is currently in an acceleration phase of digital transformation, with increasing demand for data centre capacity, cloud services, and AI infrastructure. Large-scale green financing of this nature supports the implementation of Indonesia’s Sustainable Finance Taxonomy (TKBI) and the country’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2060. Additionally, it strengthens the foundation for Indonesia’s increasingly significant digital economic growth.

The financing value, equivalent to over Rp 10 trillion, demonstrates growing confidence from global and national financial institutions in Indonesia’s potential as a hub for sustainable digital ecosystem growth in the region.

The CGK Campus has been specifically designed to support AI workloads and high-performance, data-intensive applications with energy efficiency. The facility targets an annualised Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25 and features a recycled water system, renewable energy integration plans, and preparation for LEED certification.

The GIIC industrial area’s infrastructure, equipped with a double-loop recycled water system, has been a critical factor enabling the implementation of sustainable design at the scale of this campus development.

The green financing is led by BNP Paribas, Clifford Capital, Crédit Agricole CIB, DBS, Mizuho, OCBC, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, and SMBC as Mandated Lead Arrangers. Crédit Agricole CIB, DBS, and PT Bank Central Asia Tbk serve as Green Facility Coordinators in the transaction. All of these institutions share a commitment to developing responsible and sustainable digital infrastructure in Indonesia.

Jonathan Walbridge, Chief Financial Officer of Digital Edge, stated that the financing underscores Digital Edge’s leadership in developing sustainable digital infrastructure. He explained that the effort includes providing high-performance digital infrastructure capable of supporting AI workloads whilst delivering innovative solutions to reduce environmental impact.

“This achievement has been realised through strong support from our financing partners, both long-standing and new, who share our commitment to responsible growth,” he said.
