Digital Economy and Fintech Tax Collections Reach IDR 47.18 Trillion by January 2026
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Directorate General of Taxation (DJP) has collected IDR 47.18 trillion in tax revenue from the digital economy sector through 31 January 2026.
Inge Diana Rismawanti, Director of Tax Outreach, Services, and Public Relations at the DJP, detailed the tax collections as follows: value-added tax (VAT) from electronic commerce transactions (PMSE) accounted for IDR 36.69 trillion, cryptocurrency asset tax contributed IDR 1.93 trillion, fintech peer-to-peer lending tax generated IDR 4.47 trillion, and tax collected through the Government Procurement Information System (SIPP) totalled IDR 4.1 trillion.
As of end January 2026, 242 companies were registered as active VAT collectors for electronic commerce transactions. The period saw one cancellation of a VAT collector designation for Grammarly and one data modification for BetterMe Limited.
By 31 January 2026, 223 of the designated electronic commerce transaction collectors had performed VAT collection and remittance totalling IDR 36.69 trillion. The cumulative amount comprises IDR 731.4 billion collected in 2020, IDR 3.9 trillion in 2021, IDR 5.51 trillion in 2022, IDR 6.76 trillion in 2023, IDR 8.44 trillion in 2024, IDR 10.32 trillion in 2025, and IDR 1.02 trillion in 2026.
Cryptocurrency Tax Collections
Cryptocurrency tax revenue accumulated to IDR 1.93 trillion through January 2026. This comprised IDR 246.45 billion collected in 2022, IDR 220.83 billion in 2023, IDR 620.4 billion in 2024, IDR 796.74 billion in 2025, and IDR 43.45 billion through 2026. The cryptocurrency tax revenue consisted of Article 22 income tax of IDR 1.05 trillion and domestic VAT of IDR 875.23 billion.
Fintech Tax Collections
Fintech tax revenue reached IDR 4.47 trillion through January 2026. The collections comprised IDR 446.39 billion in 2022, IDR 1.11 trillion in 2023, IDR 1.48 trillion in 2024, IDR 1.37 trillion in 2025, and IDR 61.91 billion through 2026. Fintech tax consisted of Article 23 income tax on interest received by domestic taxpayers and permanent establishments totalling IDR 1.23 trillion, Article 26 income tax on interest received by foreign taxpayers of IDR 724.54 billion, and domestic VAT on period payments of IDR 2.52 trillion.
Other Digital Economy Tax Collections
Additional digital economy tax revenue derived from SIPP tax collections. Through January 2026, SIPP tax revenue totalled IDR 4.1 trillion. This comprised IDR 402.38 billion collected in 2022, IDR 1.12 trillion in 2023, IDR 1.33 trillion in 2024, and IDR 1.25 trillion in 2025. SIPP tax revenue consisted of Article 22 income tax of IDR 339.01 billion and VAT of IDR 3.76 trillion.
