Jakarta – The city governments of West Jakarta and South Jakarta have taken enforcement action against padel courts operating without permits, though the steps taken differ from the direction of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.

West Jakarta’s municipal government sealed the MMT Padel facility on Puri Ayu Street, Kembangan, on Monday, 2 March 2026. The enforcement action was taken because the building and its facilities lack Building Permit Approval (PBG).

Herry Purnama, Head of West Jakarta’s Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), explained that the sealing included closing access points and posting notice banners in front of the facility area.

Herry added that the padel court had only been operating for approximately two months since January 2026.

The operators and owners were warned not to damage the seals or operate clandestinely.

“We emphasise that whilst the sealing process is ongoing, no activities whatsoever are permitted within the area,” said Herry.

In South Jakarta, the Sub-office of Spatial Planning and Building (Suku Dinas Citata) will seal the Fourthwall padel court in the Cilandak area on Tuesday, 3 March 2026 at 10:00 WIB.

Andy Lazuardy, Head of South Jakarta’s Suku Dinas Citata, affirmed that the sealing is being carried out because the building lacks PBG.

“We submitted our PBG permit application back in August. As of our last update, it has not yet been issued,” stated the official.

Beyond permitting issues, the presence of padel courts has also triggered complaints from residents. The sound of ball bouncing off rackets and polycarbonate walls, combined with players’ shouts, can be heard in nearby homes and disrupts sleep and work-from-home activities.

Idham, an affected resident, revealed that in a single week, resident complaints can reach three instances, yet responses from the operators have been minimal.

“We asked for the installation of sound dampening or a temporary halt to operations, but the operators refused because it would not be profitable for their business,” he said.
